{diy #4} that extra room: I’m Done!

Holy moly! Talk about a diy  adventure. I am finished recreating my extra room into craft room awesomeness. You wanna know the best part?! I LOVE IT!

It’s exactly what I had pictured in my head when I set out to flip that good for nothing, no purpose room. If you’ve been following the  extra room diys, you know this room has been a horse of a different color for me. If you haven’t gotten to check out the blogs leading up to this big finale blog post, check them out here, here, and here.

I had all but closed the door to the idea of using this space for anything but that creepy side room that just stores all of your stuff. You know how I love bringing you everything refurbished, refined, and reusable. So, I felt kind of like an old fuddy duddy just leaving this awesome room to its lonesome. It needed a friend!

See, potentially awesome spaces are like stray animals to me. You just gotta help ‘em out. I am guility of bringing home cats and dogs to my parents from the time I was 5 to 18. My big ole heart just couldn’t take seeing a pup needing help. So I saved them.

Every. Single. One.

I think it amounted to two dogs and cat. And then one of the dogs had pups. Yes, my parents had their hands full with my “to the rescue!!” attitude. From animals to empty spaces, I’m still ready to save the day.

When I set out to create this new area, there were some important issues I wanted to tackle.

1) Furniture:

I needed some awesome vintage pieces that I knew would be in my house for years to come. I was ready to invest in some solid accents.

2) Space Savers:

I was sick of my rubbermaid shelving system. Sure- they’re handy, they’re clear, and they don’t cost a pretty penny. They just weren’t what I was wanting for my space. Saynora Mr. Rubbermaid. I’ve got

an affair with another shelving system: crates.

3) A Vibe:

A vibe you say? huh? Yep. It’s all about some positive energy, people. You are as creative as your space makes you feel. If you’re feeling trapped like a mouse in cage, chances are

your creations could  reflect that. You gotta have room to be creative! Lots of room to open your mind and get those creative juices a-flowing is super important. I needed a good vibe for this room, one that would have me

looking forward to my next masterpiece the moment I step in the door.

It’s about being excited to work that makes all the difference. I really can’t stress this enough. You’ve gotta love your space!!

Well the results are in…. and I freakin’ did it!  *sigh* success in diys is like climbing to the top of Everest for a crafter. #mademymonth.

You wanna see some photos? Huh? Do ya? Huh? YEAH!

I am proud… like a proud parents showing baby pics. I don’t have any of those little rascals at the moment, but I feel like I just birthed a diy child when I finished this room– hours of hard labor and I’m exhausted by the end of it. Definitely nowhere near comparable, but you get my point..

Well here’s the pictures for ya! Enjoy!!
